SUBMIT YOUR STORY

If you would like to submit your story to be posted on our website, please email your information to gayvoicesoflove@gmail.com, using the following format: introduce yourself in a way that humanizes you and identifies your connection to Mormonism (present or past)–your hobbies, talents, interests, employment–and words of encouragement to gay LDS youth, especially those who might be considering either celibacy or a marriage to someone of the opposite sex as their only options for a happy life. You may submit profiles separately or as a couple, whichever you prefer.

Prompts may include, but are not limited to:

How did you meet your partner/spouse?  How did it feel?  Tell your story, we’d love to hear it.

What was it like for you when you got engaged/married?   How do you feel now?

How did rhetoric about how a heterosexual temple marriage is the only way a family can be together make you feel growing up?

What would you say to a depressed LDS gay youth who is worried that celibacy or a heterosexual temple marriage are their only options if they want to please God?

Do you feel God has confirmed to you that your relationship is also forever, that He is excited to welcome you home someday?

How have you felt God direct your life toward your partner/spouse?  If you self-identify as atheist or agnostic, feel free to expound on your feelings about your life path as well.

If you have children:  how does being a parent impact your perspective on eternal families? Are you comforted knowing your family is forever too?

Please attach at least 1 photo to your email. Anywhere from just 20 to about 500 words is sufficient. Short videos telling your story are also encouraged and can be uploaded by sending us  the file, or a link to your Youtube or Vimeo video.  Wedding videos or vacation clips are lovely!

We are not soliciting diatribes against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We encourage thoughtful submissions on your narrative on how you found love and happiness. We welcome those who are currently Mormon, former (post-)Mormons, those who might return to the Church if not for current policies on homosexuality, or those who have left but care deeply about  its members and are concerned about how the status quo affects youth in 2014.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about submitting your story!
